The Scottsdale men's basketball team picked up a crucial win in their fight to earn a Region playoff spot, defeating Mesa 78-70 today at MCC.

The win improved the Artichokes to 13-12 overall and 7-7 in the ACCAC. They are tied for third with Glendale and sit a game ahead of Mesa in the standings.

SCC took at 42-39 lead into the half and in the second half limited Mesa to just 31 points to win the game.

The Artichokes shot 45% from the floor and edged Mesa 40-38 on the boards. They played an efficient game committing only six turnovers.

Quincy Kirk had a huge game putting up 30 points. He was 11-for-15 from the free throw line. McCade Peterson contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Anderson had 14 points and seven boards.

Scottsdale will look to solidify their place in the standings when they visit Phoenix on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m.
