SCC outlasts GCC; Travels to South for Region playoffs

The Scottsdale men's basketball team picked up a crucial 85-84 win today over Glendale at SCC.

The win caps the regular season at 16-13 overall and 10-8 in the ACCAC. More importantly with the win, SCC captures the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Region playoffs.

SCC built a big 48-30 lead in the opening half, only to see GCC come all the way back in the second half. The Artichokes held strong despite the Gauchos push to put the game away late.

Scottsdale shot 49.1% to 47.8% for Glendale. GCC had a 43-42 edge on the boards. SCC was 20-for-24 from the free throw line, compared to GCC who were 8-for-10.

McCade Peterson led the Artichokes with 18. Quincy Kirk had 16 points on eight rebounds.

Scottsdale as the No. 3 seed will now travel to face No. 2 South Mountain in the NJCAA Region I Semifinals on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. South defeated SCC in all three matchups this season.
