Pima takes two from SCC

On a scorching afternoon at SCC, Scottsdale softball dropped two hard-fought games to Pima.

The losses dropped SCC to 15-14 overall and 11-11 in the conference.

Game 1: Pima 7 Scottsdale 6

The Artichokes jumped out early, scoring one run in the first inning before adding three more in the second to take a 4-2 lead. After Pima responded with a big third and fourth inning to pull ahead, Scottsdale chipped away with runs in the fifth and sixth to keep the game close.

SCC collected 11 hits, highlighted by home runs from Kadence Braden and Alma Teilon. Braden drove in three runs to lead the team, while Teilon added two RBIs. Alexandria Armstrong and Jacee Larson each had two hits.

Abby Harrell (2-2) went the distance on the mound for SCC.

Game 2: Pima 6 Scottsdale 5

After three scoreless innings, Pima broke through with four runs in the fourth and added two more in the seventh to build a 6-1 lead. The Artichokes answered with a four-run surge in the bottom of the seventh, putting the tying run on base, but were unable to complete the comeback.

Scottsdale once again totaled 11 hits, led by a standout performance from Alma Teilon, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Tati Solano added a double and drove in two runs, while Jacee Larson scored twice.

Tyler Gordanier (5-7) tossed a complete game, allowing six runs—just two earned—while striking out three.

SCC will next travel to South Mountain for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24. Due to the continuing heat advisory, the doubleheader will begin at 10 a.m.
