Scottsdale softball swept Glendale and clinched a spot in the upcoming NJCAA Region I Tournament. The opening game win was also the 100^th in the career of head coach, Sabeana Romero.

Game 1: Scottsdale 9 Glendale 5

Scottsdale opened with four runs in the first and added three more in the second to take control. Glendale chipped away with single runs in the second, fifth, and sixth, then added two in the seventh, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

The Artichokes finished with 11 hits, led by Jacee Larson's three-hit game. Alma Teilon powered the offense with a home run, double, and three RBIs, while Alexandria Armstrong and Elia Palencia drove in two runs apiece. Tati Solano added two hits and an RBI.

Kailyn Montoya (10-9) earned the win, allowing two runs (one earned) over 5.0 innings. Tyler Gordanier closed out the final 2.0 innings.

Game 2: Scottsdale 13 Glendale 0 (6)

Scottsdale (22-27, 18-22) scored in each of the first three innings, then erupted late with an eight-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Elia Palencia, Alma Teilon, Alexandria Armstrong, and Kadence Braden each recorded three hits, with Braden adding a home run. Armstrong and Hailey Estrella each scored three runs as SCC's offense stayed consistent throughout the lineup.

Tyler Gordanier (9-13) threw a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits with no walks and three strikeouts over 6.0 innings.

The Artichokes will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 2 when they host Chandler-Gilbert. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
