Artichokes Drop Second Straight Close Game

A slow fourth quarter cost the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes Saturday night against the Northern Idaho College Cardinals in the 75-61 loss.

Story by Joran Palacio

Saturday's game almost mirrored Thursday's game entirely for the Artichokes (2-3) the contest was evenly matched for the majority of the game, but SCC went cold from the field to start the final period of play.

At the end of the third quarter the Cardinals (1-1) only led by two points, but opened the fourth with a 9-0 run to create enough separation to last them the rest of the way. It took the 'Chokes near three and a half minutes to score in the fourth, and were able to pull within six, but that is the closest they would get.

Northern Idaho College was able to hold on and extend down the stretch and win 75-61.

Once again, the score does not accurately portray how close this game was for 35 out of the 40 minutes, in fact, Scottsdale has been very competitive in all if their five games this season.

#24 Kenyah Duran was the team's leading scorer Saturday with 13 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting. #4 Joyce Jordan also scored double figures with 10 as well.

Scottsdale return to the court one more time before Thanksgiving for a Tuesday night matchup with Eastern Arizona College. That game tips off at 5:30 p.m. and will be the 'Chokes' first taste of conference play in the new season.
